God is real, you know. Being a real person, He has a certain way about Him, a personality. As you may know, not all personalities get along with each other in the very best of ways. But what does it mean when our ways of living, even our own religious practices and traditions, contradict what God is saying?
When Jesus preached in His home town of Nazareth, the people were offended by Him. The reason being that they thought they already knew everything about who Jesus was. Wasn’t He the carpenter? Weren’t His brothers and sisters living among them? They were astonished at the tenacity of the Man as He preached wisdom and performed miracles. “He doesn’t know His place,” they said.
Will we honor the Holy Spirit when He moves in our churches? We must agree with Him and with each other, if anything is to be accomplished. There are dreams in God’s heart, and we have the opportunity to make them our own dreams. Let’s not get complacent, thinking we know everything there is to know about God. He wants to take us to new heights of power and new depths of intimacy. Far be it from us to reject the allurement of the King, while we say in our hearts, “You’re not that good.” Trust me, He is so much better than we know.
May we give all our will and affections to the God of all lights, the heavenly Bridegroom.
“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.”–Matthew 18:19
