I’ve heard it said that the Bible is God’s love letter to us, His people. The funny thing about letters and words in general is that you can either believe them or not. If you deem the author trustworthy, you will trust what they say. If someone says something like, “You’re lovely. You are beautiful, and I love you,” your level of trust will determine whether or not those words affect your heart.
We must believe God! Jesus says, “I have come to give you life.” When we fully agree with that word, we do become alive. Because it is true! Jesus is light and eternal life. Us disagreeing with that word doesn’t make it any less true, but it does harden our own hearts towards Him. It means that we’re agreeing with darkness rather than light.
We have been approved by the God of the Universe. Because of this, we have no need to be ashamed. Any sinful deeds, all wrong thinking must be exposed and expunged. We are righteous and pure before Him, not because of our striving efforts, but because He said, “You are forgiven.”
We can believe the things the Father says about us, beloved sons and daughters. Hold fast to His Word!
“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.”–John 3:14-15
